Monochrome Feelings

I don’t play well with others
some days I feel like breaking up at the seams
and nobody wants that
because reliable
because f*cking strong
and never a good time for meltdown

among the grey people of which I am one
I see you so clear / black and white
changing patterns / and flashing
like some bold neon sign
now you’re checkers / disturbing
I keep losing all games of mind
as I lose all games of luck
now you’re stripes
like a zebra or better a convict
and no one crosses you
and no one loosens your chains
let alone break them / it’s dark
and you’re eye-soaring polka dots / with no vodka
you’re snow in the night / moving so slow
among the grey people of which I am one / or a half
it feels you are still / and it hurts
there’s no place for you in this world
and grey wombs are no happy homes
nor grey hearts
